House Description

Casa Eos won the prize for best Archtictural project from the College of Architects of Costa Rica in 2010 and  takes its rightful place as one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful private homes; it is a vacation which is out of the ordinary in every way.

From the second floor swimming pool and espejo de agua (water mirror) which laps up to the glass of the master bedroom and living room, to the gigantic ocean and jungle view to the artistry of acclaimed Minimalist Architect Victor Canas, Casa Eos, as guests will soon discover, is not just a place to stay; it is to be experienced.

When you enter the house the first thing you hear is the un-fountain; one that flows down rather than up. The first thing guests will see when entering the house is a marvelous staircase that seems not to be there, and a hallway above that seems to float.  The stairs and the passageway above are constructed entirely of glass.

Before going up the stairs, guests will discover the well appointed media room with a large flat screen color television and enough lounging area for everyone. The house has a total of five flat screen color televisions — and you do not even have to get out of the pool to watch two of them.  The intelligent system controls the music throughout the Casa Eos; guests just hook up their Ipod or laptop in the media room, and then control the music from the three touch screens upstairs.  The blackout shades and privacy screens are on motors.

All of the designer furnishings at Casa Eos have been carefully selected to ensure a perfect ‘fit’ with the architectural design concept of light, space, and tranquility. The house also won the Interior Design Award for 2010 from the magazine Su Casa -- THE design magazine of Costa Rica.

The huge kitchen flows into the dining room with a table for twelve guests, and then into the living room. The kitchen is gourmet and oversized and is fitted with all the major modern appliances, including a built-in espresso maker and wine fridge and hotel style ice-maker. The living area leads out to the private swimming pool and surrounding deck through large glass doors that are always open to let the gorgeous ocean breezes flow through.

The master bedroom is on the 2nd floor as well, and the water from the espejo de agua -- water mirror or wet deck -- actually laps right up to the foot of the bed -- without ever coming inside.  The master is wonderfully open, but with a huge wall of closets to hide everything away.  There is even a bath tub surrounded by glass (and privacy screens) in which you can soak and gaze at the ocean.

There are 2 more bedroom on the other side of the 2nd floor.  The "best" guest room with a queen size bed and our son's room with bunk beds.  Both have en suite bathrooms.  There is also a half bath off the living room for guests.  it is painted with chalkboard paint which makes for great reading when guests leave.

On the 1st floor there are 3 guest rooms.  An independent apartment with a full kitchen, sitting area and a large bathroom sits across the garage from the house.  Past the media room is a bathroom with shower and a bunk bedroom.  At the end of the hall is the last guest with a queen bed, private deck, and en suite bath.

Area Description

Casa Eos is without a doubt a most extraordinary and striking modern six bedroom vacation home which is situated next to Los Suenos with its beautiful Marina, sport fishing charters, five restaurants, and a beautiful and challenging golf course. The house is located inside a gated community which offers guests twenty-four hour security.

Without leaving the house, guests will see macaws flying by and sitting in the trees; gigantic iguanas sun themselves on the hill behind the house and on the roofs below it.  Pisotes, which look like a monkey-cat-raccoons, come by for cookies and bananas in the afternoon.  If you get up early and go for a walk up the road you will see monkeys playing in the trees.  And throughout half of the year whales will come into the bay in front of the house.

Within the gated community there are 2 tennis courts, a basketball court, 3 swimming pools, a bar-b-que and clubhouse area and a private beach. The entire property is a lush tropical rain forrest.

Casa Eos is located 1 hour from the International airport in San Jose and with a few hours of all other Costa Rica's natural wonders.
